Gratitude post 3: Big Girl Job

So I posted to insta a few days ago that I had some big news....... sorry to break it to you all (not a wedding announcement).... BUT my big news is that I've started a new "Big Girl Job"!! And I'm here to finally give you the scoop on it all.

I'll give you all a little background: I started my blog just over a year ago to have a, sort of, online portfolio of my styling & what not. I have been interested in the fashion world since I was 16 when I decided I would be a personal shopper at nordstrom... did that ever happen? No. Why? Because I took the "traditional route." Tried college, hated it. Tried beauty school, loved it, committed to it, and still felt like there was something missing in my life. Styling has always seemed to come easily to me & really I wasn't even aware of it. I would have people compliment me saying they would never think of pairing some of the items I did... so I took those compliments and I ran with them... so back into the fashion world I went. I would do freelance styling for friends here and there, and then it turned into this thing that people would say I was their "stylist" well, hell. Okay! I accept. A little over a year later, I have worked for a number of different companies as their "stylist," continuing to do hair 3 days a week to fill my extra time. (Extra time, haha, right). After a lot of consideration & weighing pros and cons I decided it was time to be a big girl and start looking for real jobs. Ew. Real jobs? I loved the freedom I had as a stylist (hair and fashion) but the inconsistency of it all made me uneasy. So the job search began.

My main set back was realizing I would have to give up a lot of my time that I spent at the salon. Guys, this was seriously one of the hardest decisions I've made in a while because I have the most AMAZING clients, who lets be honest are my FRIENDS! I love each and every one of them (you) & I genuinely look forward to when you come in to party with me! & I wasn't sure if I could give that up for a real job. Alas, I received a job offer with Bella Ella Boutique as their Marketing & Styling assistant. & after finding a real job in an industry that I loved, I happily accepted. I am so excited to be apart of such a great team and a growing company! I feel like this job is the perfect thing for me in my life right now & I couldn't be more grateful for it! Grateful... there it is.... on to the gratitude.

Grateful. I am so grateful for work. Sounds crazy right? But seriously, I am so blessed to have found a job that is in an industry that I love and that I am able to share my creativity in a way I only dreamed of. I am grateful for all of the brands and companies I have worked with & for, who have helped me become a better stylist & push me to stretch myself. I am grateful for all of the clients who have taken a chance on me and trusted me to help them look and feel their best. There is nothing in this world that feels better than helping someone else feel good about themself. Absolutely nothing. I am grateful for a best friend and partner who has always supported me through all of my ever changing employment statuses & mood swings because of said statuses. I am grateful to my parents who support me with all of my crazy ideas and business ventures & for reminding me that I can do anything. Thank you to my owner at Suggestions Salon who has been soooooo patient with all of my schedule changes and time requests & for allowing me to work when I still can at the salon.

To my existing and hopefully new clients. Thank you for your patience and continued support as my schedule will be very limited from here on out. I have chosen to continue to work all day saturdays, and take a few evening appointments throughout the week along with my new full time position at Bella Ella. I WILL accommodate you all as best as I can!! I will never give up my talent of doing hair, I love it and all of you too much! If you have any problems making an appointment with me, let me know & I'll see what I can do to best serve you.

To my readers! Thank you for sticking with me through my breakdowns, my disappearances and my gushy, over shares. I'm grateful for each and every one of you and the time you take out of your days to give a little love to little ol me! Oh... and here is a very grown up looking outfit. I could get used to this "Big Girl Job" thing after all.

  1. Congrats on the new position. As much as it pains me to have you on speed dial for my emergency hair ADHD moments, I'm very excited for you!

  2. Bella Ella is such a great company. I got an intern offer there last summer and I wanted to take it but time didn't allow me to. Their owner was really nice though and I bet you're going to get to work with a lot of wonderful people.

  3. Simply, the desire to be employed and get that dream job obviates and replaces an individuals ability to read a job advert. They read the title, look at the pay, and with jobs boards making it so simple, they just click to apply.

  4. Excellent information on your Career advancement blog, thank you for taking the time to share with us. Amazing insight you have on this, it's nice to find a website that details so much information about different artists.

  5. While the type B personality does not give in to the mania that will affect a type A, they also have little motivation to step up to the plate and deliver if job search circumstances demand extra commitment. This site

  6. The blog is like an ocean, I wish to drown in.
